Ron Pownall

Ron Pownall got his start shooting the Rolling Stones in Chicago in 1966 with a Kodak instamatic. He then invested in a couple of “real” cameras and landed a summer job with The Chicago Tribune, capturing the Democratic Convention Chicago Riots and music assignments with Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin.

In 1973 Pownall started photographing Aerosmith and did much of their photography through the late 80’s. Other noted musicians he's photographed include Elton John, Boston, Queen, J.Geils Band, The Cars, Meatloaf and Ted Nugent. Pownall's assignment work has been featured in some of the top music magazines in the world including Rolling Stone, Creem, Circus and Hit Parader.
