Steve Wilstein is a Boston-based photographer, sportswriter and author. His love of baseball is expressed in his photographs of the Boston Red Sox in spring training and reinforce his efforts as a writer to preserve the innocence of the game. As a former columnist and feature writer for the Associated Press, he broke the news of St. Louis Cardinals slugger Mark McGwire's "andro" use during his record-setting 70-home run season in 1998 _ a report that gave the public its first look at what became baseball's "Steroids Era".
Wilstein's photographs of Muhammad Ali are part of a touring exhibition of the former heavyweight champion, along with images by Annie Leibovitz and Gordon Parks.
